Safety Note

Skyward Dream is for practice and guidance. It does not decide a student’s future.

What It Can Do

  • Show simple game-based signs of thinking speed and hand control (psychomotor).
  • Show if focus changes, if answers are rushed, and if the eyes scan the screen well.
  • Guide students toward proper aptitude checks, medical checks and career advice.

What It Cannot Do

  • Diagnose ADHD or any health condition.
  • Certify that a student can become a pilot.
  • Replace DGCA medical checks, airline selection, or expert testing.

Consent Rules

  • Use eye direction tracking (gaze tracking) only after clear permission.
  • For minors, take parent/school permission and give a no-camera option.
  • Do not store raw video by default.

Pathway to Becoming an Airline Pilot in India

Simple steps from school subjects to airline preparation.

How to Become a Helicopter Pilot in India

The helicopter path is different from the aeroplane pilot path. Always check latest DGCA rules before advising a student.

Minimum Eligibility

  • Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics, or an accepted open-school route.
  • Usually 18 years for a commercial helicopter licence.
  • Do DGCA Class 2 medical first, then DGCA Class 1 medical before the commercial licence.
  • You will need a student file number (Computer Number), DGCA exams, radio/English rules and online records (eGCA).

Training Route

  • Choose a DGCA-approved helicopter school, or a foreign school with a clear India licence-change plan (conversion).
  • Study ground subjects, helicopter type lessons and approved simulator/training if needed.
  • Build the required helicopter flying hours, including pilot-in-command (PIC), cross-country, night and instrument flying if required.
  • Pass skill tests and apply for licence/type approval through DGCA/eGCA.

Cost and Jobs

  • Training from the beginning (ab-initio) can cost much more than aeroplane CPL because helicopter flying per hour is costly.
  • Planning range: about Rs 1 crore to Rs 2.5 crore+ depending on country, helicopter type, flying hours, India licence change (conversion) and delays.
  • Career options: charter, corporate, offshore oil and gas, HEMS/air ambulance, pilgrimage/tourism, utility, survey, state government and disaster support.
  • Ex-defence helicopter pilots may get some credit. Check current DGCA credit rules.
Portal advice: do not tell a student that aeroplane CPL automatically makes them a helicopter pilot. Helicopter licence, handling, costs, jobs and type training are a separate path.

Class 12 Physics and Mathematics Bridge

If a student passed Class 12 without Physics and Mathematics, they should pass these two subjects through a recognised open school before starting the pilot licence path (CPL).

Recommended National Route

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)

  • Official admission/student portal: sdmis.nios.ac.in
  • Official NIOS site: nios.ac.in
  • Senior Secondary subject codes: Mathematics 311 and Physics 312.
  • Use extra subject, part admission, public exam or on-demand exam only after checking current NIOS rules.

Student Checklist

  • Keep existing Class 12 marksheet and passing certificate.
  • Ask DGCA/flying school (FTO) if separate NIOS Physics/Maths marksheets are accepted.
  • Physics may need practical work, so plan time for practicals and assignments (TMA).
  • Do not pay a big non-refundable flying school fee until eligibility is clear.

Portal Advice

Tell students: “If you passed Class 12 without Physics and Maths, first fix your eligibility. Pass Physics and Mathematics through NIOS or another recognised open school, then plan medical and DGCA steps.”

DGCA Medical Check

How to start, what doctors check, and where students must be careful.

How to Get It Done

    What Is Checked

      Smart Advice

      • Do Class 2 medical early and Class 1 medical before paying large training fees.
      • Tell the doctor honestly about medicines, ADHD history, surgery and health issues.
      • A specialist doctor’s report may be needed if something is unclear.

      Cost to Become Airline-Ready

Simple India cost estimate. Final cost changes with flying school (FTO), aircraft, delays, stay, type rating and airline path.

Practical airline-ready budget: about Rs 65 lakh to Rs 1.1 crore. Airline cadet programs can cost more.

      Scholarships and Government Support

Most schemes depend on home state (domicile), category, family income and whether the course is accepted. Do not promise money until the department or bank confirms it in writing.

      Where to Check

      • National Scholarship Portal for SC/ST/OBC/EBC/DNT/minority and professional course schemes.
      • State scholarship and social welfare websites.
      • Flying school documents showing DGCA approval and fee list.

      Verified Examples

      • IGRUA states CPL fee as Rs 55 lakh and says it has no in-house subsidy or fee relaxation.
      • Gujarat Developing Castes Welfare lists a Rs 25 lakh commercial pilot training loan at 4% per year.
      • Central Social Justice scholarship documents have mentioned Commercial Pilot Training/Type Rating for eligible categories.

      Portal Wording

“Scholarships depend on category, home state (domicile), income and whether the course is accepted. A student should not assume pilot training is funded until the exact scheme is confirmed in writing.”

      Banks and Loan Options

Large CPL loans usually need security property (collateral) and a strong parent/guardian co-applicant.

Banks / finance companies (NBFC) to Check

      Documents Usually Needed

        Loan Caution

For a Rs 60 lakh to Rs 1 crore path, banks usually look at security property (collateral), co-applicant income and whether they trust the flying school/cadet program.
