About

Capt. Amit Singh FRAeS Founder & Director

Safety Matters Foundation is India’s only independent aviation safety NGO — no ads, no paywall, no institutional agenda. It exists because of one conviction: that aviation safety depends on understanding systems, not assigning blame, and that understanding must be made public.

Capt. Singh has logged 18,000+ flight hours across three decades in command — on the Boeing 777 and Airbus A320 — and has spent that time studying the instrument no checklist fully captures: the human mind. How decisions collapse under pressure. How errors grow from invisible causes. How the stories that go untold shape the outcomes that shouldn’t happen.

A Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (UK) and published author, he has presented at ISASI The Hague, the Flight Safety Foundation in Singapore, EATS Berlin, and WATS Orlando. His writing has appeared in The Aeronautical Journal.

Authored Works

mindFly: Follies, Realities and Human Factors A rigorous and readable investigation into cognitive bias, decision-making failures, and the mental load that sits behind every aviation error. Published and available now.

Varaha: Hunnic Migration to Hind — Defenders of Bharat Lost in History A historical investigation tracing the Varaha Rajput dynasty from Central Asia to Indian soil — drawing on DNA evidence, numismatics, epigraphy, and primary sources to recover a lineage written out of the record. Kavita Singh Director

Kavita Singh is a Hospitality Interior Designer with 18+ years of experience across luxury projects in India, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and China. Having lived and worked across eight cities, she brings a rare fluency in cultural nuance and client psychology to every brief she takes on.

A painter by instinct, her design sensibility is built on restraint: the dress down to dress up approach, where subtle, precisely layered detail consistently delivers more than the obvious solution ever could. Her work does not announce itself — it simply works.

Kalindi Singh Additional Director

Kalindi Singh serves as Additional Director of the Safety Matters Foundation, contributing to its governance and strategic direction.

Our Mission

mindFly exists to make aviation safety understandable, accessible, and useful — beyond the cockpit, beyond the regulator, and beyond the accident report.

Through the mindFly Blog (500+ articles), the mindFly Katha podcast (46+ episodes), peer-reviewed research, and India’s only anonymous aviation safety reporting portal, we work to ensure that every error is understood in context, every system failure is examined without blame, and every voice in the cockpit has a channel to be heard.

We also believe that rigorous institutions require rigorous memory. Our parallel work in cultural history — recovering the heritage of the Varaha Rajputs — reflects the same conviction: facts matter, evidence matters, and what is forgotten cannot be learned from.
