Safety Matters is a Non Governmental Organisation registered as a charitable organisation working towards establishing a generative safety culture (not just in aviation). The activities and the memorandum of understanding are listed on the official website of Safety Matters.

Safety Matters Membership Rules

Rules of Membership

Any individual of sound mind and integrity having unflinching faith in the aims and objectives of the NGO called Safety Matters can become its member under any one of the three categories subject to meeting the requirements. The founders of the society will decide the outcome of the application. The membership fee for such members shall be charged one time with a validity of five (05) years, subject to revision from time to time. Post completion of five years the membership will be renewed by the founders subject to the best fit in the desired role. A nominal membership will be charged for one-time renewal.

  • Active Member
    • An individual may be enrolled as an active member initially for a period of five years provided that she/he is found suitable and keen to discharge assigned works of the society.
    • The individual may directly be enrolled as an active member provided the founders consider her/his case and recommend favourably.
    • The active member will be actively involved in working and managing/developing projects pursued by Safety Matters.
    • All such individuals shall have to pay a one-time membership fee of INR. 5000.00 only for this category valid for five years. The conditions for renewal are given in general terms.
    • The founders may extend or curtail the duration of the membership of any such member.
  • Associate Member
    • A professionally experienced individual may be enrolled as an associate member initially for five years.
    • The associate member would not be required to be actively involved in the projects pursued by Safety Matters unless desired so by the member as a request in writing to the founders.
    • All such individuals shall have to pay one-time membership of INR 10,000.00 only for this category valid for five years. The conditions for renewal are given in general terms.
    • The associate members will have voting rights in the General Body (when formed).
    • The founders may extend or curtail the duration of the membership of any such member.
  • Donor Member
    • Any person of good integrity donating INR. 1, 00,000=00 (Rs. One lakh only) or more in cash or kind shall be enrolled as a donor member of the society enjoying voting rights in the General Body when formed.
    • Any institution or organisation donating INR. 1,00,000=00 (Rs. One lakh only) or more in cash or kind shall be enrolled as a donor member enjoying voting rights in the General Body through its authorised representative.
  • Honorary Member
    • Any person of a remarkable achievement in any field of knowledge, creativity, performance, work or service subscribing to the aims and objectives of the society may be enrolled as an Honorary Member of the society without paying any fee. Such members may attend important meetings and offer suggestions at times.
  • Patrons
    • Eminent persons of proven excellence and exemplary calibre in any field of knowledge, creativity, performance, work or service may be nominated as Patrons of the society. Patrons may be invited to attend important meetings. However, they shall not be obliged to pay any membership fee or to attend meetings or take part in any voting.
  • Procedure for Enrolment of a Member
    • Persons or institutions or organisations (except the Honorary Members and the Patrons) desirous of being enrolled as members shall apply to the Founder/Secretary giving their particulars on a prescribed application form . The founders shall deal with all kinds of such application and grant membership. The Founders reserves to itself the right to accept, continue or deny membership to any individual, institution or organisation without assigning any reason whatsoever and its decision shall be final.
  • Termination of Membership
    • Any member of the society who works against the interests, objectives and reputation of the society will cease to be its member. The Founders shall have full power to take such a decision.
    • A member of the society including a Founder member shall cease to be a member of the society if
      • She/ He die, resign, become of unsound mind, become insolvent or is convicted of a criminal offence.
      • She/ He does not regularly attend meetings of Safety Matters. However, if she/he submits or sends prior written information to the Founder or Secretary mentioning the proper reason for her/his absence, her/his membership may be continued.
      • She/ he fail to pay the subscription or dues to the NGO continuously for three months after the due date.
    • A member may resign from the membership of the NGO any time by a letter addressed to the Founder or the Secretary. The Founders shall have full powers to accept such resignations. There shall not be any restoration of membership after termination.
