🎉 Proudly Sharing My Second Article in the GCAA’s Prestigious Safety Magazine, “The Investigator”! ✍️✈
️
I’m thrilled to announce that my second article, “Inattentional Blindness and Bias During Visual Scans,” has been published in the December 2024 edition of The Investigator, the renowned safety magazine published by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
This article dives deep into critical cognitive challenges faced by aviation professionals, such as:
- Inattentional Blindness: The phenomenon of “looking without seeing,” where critical cues in plain sight go unnoticed.
- Cognitive Biases: How expectation and confirmation biases can compromise decision-making during high-pressure situations.
Drawing from real-world incidents and psychological research, I discuss strategies to mitigate these challenges, emphasizing the importance of mindfulness, scenario-based training, and Crew Resource Management (CRM).
A big thank you to the GCAA team for the opportunity to contribute to the aviation safety dialogue and to everyone committed to making our skies safer.
Let’s continue to explore and innovate in aviation safety together!
